Past be remembered: Boxing Museum in Lviv

For anyone not having heard of Lviv, it is a blooming multiethnic city in the West of Ukraine. Vintage feels which are often merely recreated here are for real.

Ukraine has long had a boxing tradition and brought out the likes of Vitali and Vladimir Klitschko.

I only came here for a weekend and thus have no box training prepared. But chance had me walk past this sign.

Now, I have not been inside because I was in town only during the weekend, but if you are around check it out. I would be curious to hear how it is.

There is no website to it. It is on the corner of Pidvalna Street with Valova Street.

K.O.K.O. Wings

Recently, I was spending a few months in Quito, Ecuador. (Yes, a post about boxing there is to come.)

While boxing is definitely happening there, what caught my eye and taste even more was a chicken wing shop in complete boxing theme. Oh my, was it delicious.

Bunker Food Park located in central Mariano Aguilera, Quito 170517, Ecuador offers a variety of cuisines in trendy L.A. food truck ambience. The park is operated by craft beer brewery UIO (as in the IATA flight code for Quito).

Out of all, my favorite by far is K.O.K.O. Wings. And not just because of the boxing sack and glove on display. A set of 6 wings plus fries for US$ 6.99 in your preferred flavor and spiciness is a satisfying portion. I chose Teriyaki, my partner BBQ and both truly hit the spot. Can I have another one, please?

In a country that knows how to do chicken, this is the ultimate knockout.

For the German girls who box

Girls who box are everywhere.

In their February 2016 issue Hamburger street magazine Hinz & Kunzt featured various women who follow the sweet science. These are women of all ages and backgrounds which is the beauty of the sport. It can gets in shape, challenges and provides much need fun and outlet for who ever is up for the challenge.

I discovered that it hasn’t been for very long that women are even allowed to box. Only since 1990 in the United States and 1995 in Germany has it been legal for women to box. That took long enough. It is just a sport as any other – only more enticing as you my fellow boxer girls well know. Go, get your gloves on and fight.
